Click here to see itinerary and progress reports With the kind support and donation of a free rail ticket from First TransPennine Express he is planning to take a week's holiday and travel the network spelling out 'SCARBOROUGH DIAL A RIDE' with the stations he calls at. The Challenge starts on Monday 26th October 2009 with the first train out of Scarborough. He'll get a photograph taken at each station he calls at with the stations' name plate in the background. This should be fun as he'll be on his own and he'll need the help of members of the public. A couple of stops are for a few minutes only and he'll need to be quick! So with nineteen stations to spell out our name, Mick will have his days full. He's estimated the total mileage covered will be around 3,897 (6,271km) - that's 1½ times around the coast of the whole of the British Isles!
We are asking you to support this rather unusual venture by sponsoring the number of stations, in order, he visits to complete 'Scarborough Dial A Ride'. You can contact us using this link to arrange your sponsorship. Your support is vital to keep the service 'on the road' and any help is gratefully received. Special thanks again to First TransPennine Express for their support! During the week of the event we will be uploading photos of the signs on this site and by the end we should have completed SCARBOROUGH DIAL A RIDE. Good luck, Mick!
